4Like the real first ponies only...  Oct 02, 2007 By Rebecca Lakey "squirtle_girl"
I have been a pony collector for as long as I can remember, and becuase I was born in 1983 MLP has been around for even longer :). While these ponies are in the same style as the old ones I think it is my job to say that they are not *just* like the older ones you may remember. The colors are much darker than they first were, more bright colors than the pastel shades. This is most true in the case of Minty and Blossom.
Also, their tails are very thin so there is not as much hair to brush :\
All and all these sets are great if you are not very picky or don't remember their colors well, but a true MLP collector may want to see them first before buying :).
I myself am getting a set, my childhood Minty needs a friend :).

51983 MY LITTLE PONY COLLECTION GET IT EARLY!  Aug 28, 2007 By J. Schenkel
This has already started selling out and is getting hard to find. I'm sure it will be a winner for the holidays. Best to get it early and save it. I love the original body style, whoever decided with the new ones that ponys should be sexy should be shot. The '83 version makes more sense, I'm throwing out the new ones and only keeping these. They're really sweet. I love re-living my childhood and I'm sure you will too, isn't that one of the reasons we became parents after all :)

5FINALLY. My daughter can have new ponies of her own, instead of hand-me-downs.  Dec 10, 2007 By JewelsJungle "Jewels"
My daughter has, for ages, preferred my old My Little Ponies over the new ones, which, as she says, don't look like horses at all. (not that the classics are terribly realistic. They are a whole lot cuter though.)

These are going to be perfect for Christmas! I can't wait to see the look on her face when she realizes these aren't old ebay toys or hand-me-downs, but brand new ponies! Now if only hasbro would bring back the old style unicorns and baby ponies...

4Making new memories w/old favorites  Oct 27, 2010 By Jae "MWMJae"
I cannot tell you how excited I was to see this set! I about squealed out loud when I found this set and saw my very favorite My Little Pony from my childhood in this set (Blossom).
I can remember very well the christmas I got Blossom and the cute Pony Castle, w/lots of extras as a little girl. My sister and I had dozens of Ponies. My daughter (4 yrs old), LOVES My Little Pony and she has several sets from past birthdays and christmases. I had to buy this set for her. It came packaged in a cute box w/lovely pastel colors and each pony's name was above them written on the box. They each had a comb and a cute bow on their tails. I do like the newer Ponies, they are very modern looking and quite pretty w/big eyes and painted lashes, but there is just something so dear to me about these older, plumper ponies. I had a BLAST playing w/her w/these old classics and telling her all about the fun adventures my younger sister and I had w/these ponies. I am so excited to be able to see my old favorites again and make new, sweet memories w/my daughter and she really loves them too. Whoever decided to bring back these old classics for a special collection...thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

5My Littles Ponies: One of the Best Toys from the 80s  Aug 23, 2009 By Jeaner
I'm glad that I can still find Original 1983 My Little Ponies so that I can buy them for my friend's daughter (who is turning 4 this month). It's nice to be able to buy her toys that I enjoyed as a child. Like many others, I prefer the original ponies rather than the ones they sell in the stores nowadays which are kind of weird.
